Functional Movement Assessment
An evidence-based assessment of functional movement, mobility, balance, and strength that identifies movement limitations and provides practical strategies to improve performance and reduce injury risk.
Trusted in workplaces across Aotearoa
Supporting healthier movement for work and everyday life.
The Functional Movement Assessment is designed to evaluate how individuals move during everyday, functional tasks. Using a series of simple movement patterns, our Clinical Exercise Physiologists assess mobility, stability, balance, strength, and movement control to identify limitations or asymmetries that may increase the risk of discomfort or injury.
The assessment provides valuable insight into an individual's functional movement capacity and can help identify opportunities to improve posture, movement efficiency, and overall physical well-being. It is suitable for employees across a wide range of industries, particularly those performing repetitive tasks, prolonged sitting, manual handling, or physically demanding work.
Blood pressure and heart rate measurements may also be included to provide additional insight into general cardiovascular health and exercise tolerance. The assessment is non-invasive and suitable for a wide range of abilities.
It can help identify early signs of reduced functional capacity, guide appropriate exercise or rehabilitation recommendations, and support proactive fall-prevention strategies to maintain independence and confidence in daily living.

Client stories
What workplaces tell us
“Bookings filled within two days of the link going out. The clinicians were brilliant with our drivers and warehouse crew. People who'd normally never get a skin check were first in line.”
“We run hybrid teams across three floors and home offices. Healthbox handled the lot: onsite health checks for the building, remote ergonomic assessments for everyone else. Zero admin on our side.”
“The de-identified workforce report gave our leadership team the evidence to fund a full wellbeing calendar. Participation hit 87%. Our previous off-site programme never cracked 30%.”
